Frequently asked
The Dollar (DXY) is driven by Federal Reserve policy, US inflation and payrolls, Treasury yields, and global risk sentiment. The Dollar often strengthens during stress ('safe haven bid') and weakens when the Fed turns dovish.
USD direction depends on how the Fed's rate path compares with the ECB, BoE and BoJ. A resilient US economy and hawkish Fed typically lift the Dollar; softer data and rate cuts tend to pressure it lower.
The DXY (US Dollar Index) measures the Dollar against a basket of six major currencies — the Euro (~58% weight), Yen, Pound, Canadian Dollar, Swedish Krona and Swiss Franc. It's the headline gauge of broad USD strength.
